What camera should I rent to take some quality photographs for a portfolio?

Question by Ess: What camera should I rent to take some quality photographs for a portfolio?
I want to rent a digital camera SLR that would give me quality digital shots. I want to use it to take shots for my portfolio because I cannot afford to buy a new one. Any suggestions?

A Nikon or Canon DSLR should be fine. A nice prime lens 50 – 65mm should be great for head shots,BUT lighting is what makes great portraits so a 3 – 4 studio light system and light meter will be imperative. The you will need some schooling on how to use them.

Best budget DSLR for 2011?

Question by : Best budget DSLR for 2011?
I’m looking to get a DSLR for myself toward christmas and I don’t have much money. I’m looking for a $ 200-350(AU) DSLR with a high shutter speed so I can take some stop motion/melanie iglesias type photos. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Visura.

$ 2-300 aud are you serious? The cheapest canon the 1000D starts at 599 and that’s a fairly basic dslr even for a starter. You will need around $ 950- $ 1250 to get a decent starter dslr

Difference in Nikon Digital SLR Cameras?

Question by jcueland: Difference in Nikon Digital SLR Cameras?
I would like to buy a Nikon Digital SLR Camera. However, I don’t know which one will meet my needs. All I want is a camera that will take the highest quality photo without me having to do anything. In other words, I’m not an avid photographer and I want a camera to do all the work for me – but I don’t want to overpay for features I don’t need.

I currently have an Nikon N60 which I’m happy with. However, sometimes when I take action shots (e.g. someone playing sports) the camera doesn’t always shoot as quickly as I would want. So, I may want a camera that is better and taking action photos.

I’ve looked at the Nikon website that compares cameras located here, but it is too technical for me:

if u r a professional photographer, sure u should buy. if u want it for ur own domesticuse, a regular one does the task. try pentax,, i have a very good experience with optio s40. nikon, being made entirely in plastic had a poor make. pics were of course not bad. it is coolpix 5200. but surely pentax is wonderful.
by the way both have parallax if u use the view finder. using the lcd doesnt give the error

What kind of digital SLR camera should I buy?

Question by baaark: What kind of digital SLR camera should I buy?
I have a Panasonic Lumix. It’s a great non-SLR (has a built in Leica lens with 12x zoom), but its missing some things. I want to shoot in raw mode, and also would like to get something with rear curtain flash, fill flash, interchangeable lenses, and stuff of that sort. In other words, I want a digital SLR, but I don’t know what kind.

So, would be a good idea to buy a brand new low end model, like an Olympus E-500 or Nikon D-40, or a last generation top of the line, like an old Nikon D1-H, or Fujifilm S1?

I am learning photography, but want to someday be very good at it (as in possibly even professionally good). I don’t want a camera that will hold me and my creativity back.

Also, I don’t think megapixels are a huge deal, as long as I can get at least 1600-1200 photos. I mostly do online stuff, and would only usually go for a 5×7 if I printed anything out. This would be for learning purposes only.

Thank you beforehand for all the great answers. 8*)
I would also like a camera that can shoot up to 1600 ISO…

Will lenses from older Nikon SLR cameras fit the newer digital slr cameras?

Question by NONAME: Will lenses from older Nikon SLR cameras fit the newer digital slr cameras?
I have an older Nikon F SLR camera with several lenses and I was curious if these lenses will mount on the newer digital SLR’s

Best answer:

I was told that if the lens is automatic, it will fit, but the focal length will be different. I have my doubts. Check with a camera store, or call Nikon to be on the safe side.

Well from the first previous awnser i found the Canon 50d….what lens would be good with that if i just bought the bodY?

Best answer:

Answer by CommandoBurton
For course! You might want a different set of lens to do it with.

I’d buy the body alone and buy better lens.

If not buy from here. They currently have the cheapest price I’ve seen.

Personally I’d go with the Canon 50D for that. But your choice, Nikon D90 isn’t quite as good as the 50D but is a fine camera. Nikon just hasn’t caught up yet, in time they will.
